What is DNS propagation period?

DNS Propagation period is the time it take for the world’s DNS servers/computer systems  to be aware of the DNS changes you make to your domain name. Sometimes, this period may take up to 72 hours. Hence, it is usually advisable to reduce the TTL (Time To Live) of the record you want to change several hours before you make the change. Do note that the previous time frame would still be in effect immediately after updating the TTL and other DNS servers may only be aware of the new period after the old timeframe has elapsed.
